In directly’s movie industry there are umteen different types of bucks including documentary, hybrid, screenplays adapted from books, etc. In 1960, movie theatre scholars explored some ways of grouping fictional films. They argued that most American receive films fall into the category of classical Hollywood cinema. In classical Hollywood cinema the story is set mainly in a present, external world and is seen largely from outside the action. These films to a fault tend to focus on one character or a few distinct individuals. The main characters have a ending or a few goals. In move to attain those goals the main characters often must confront antagonists or a series of problems. The film has closure, and often the main characters stick to in reaching their goals (happy windups). The emphasis is on clear causes and effectuate of actions and when shooting and putting the film to pick outher, unobtrusive filmmaking techniques are employ (Phillips 292).
After screening Singin’ In The Rain, I strongly rely that this film fits the mold of classical Hollywood cinema. The story is more often than not set in a 1950’s movie studio.

The film focuses on Don Lockwood and his “Hollywood” relationship with Lina Lamont. In the film Lockwood’s goal is to win the heart of Kathy Selden and have her be his on-screen companion instead of Lamont. While seek to attain this goal Lockwood encounters a series of problems, especially when Lamont finds out what he is trying to do. This film definitely has closure and a happy ending in that Lockwood and Selden end up together at the conclusion of the film. All of these characteristics show that this film is a typical subject of classical Hollywood cinema.
