Intro
This essay willing address if experimenting in the use of other voting systems other than first past the post comport resulted in more harm than good in the UK. Each voting system has its own benefits and disadvantages, and I will need to study and lambast about them in this essay to work out whether they have ca employ more harm than good, or if they have brought anything positive to light.
First Past the Post
The first past the post system has been used in the UKs political system for many years, and so far has not been changed, although it has come close to be changed (alternative take referendum May 2011) this particular referendum did not take place, but was beingness talked about.
The first past the post system, is where the party with 50% + 1 of votes is in power, it disadvantages minor parties, as the majority the party wins by is the majority of set in parliament, so there is disproportionality as some parties such as the liberals votes are not being accounted for. However the first past the post system does have many good factor as well, obviously, otherwise it would not have been so successful over the years and would noneffervescent not be in place.
Additional Member System
The extra member system (AMS) is an alternative way of voting, it is used for the frugal Parliament, Welsh Assembly and Greater London Assembly. Some features it is a mixed system, made up of constituency and party-list elements and a proportion of seats are filled up by FPTP using oneness member constituencies, for example In Scotland and London 56% of representatives are elected in this way.
