Abstract
While the minute number of patients with Tourette syndrome is unknown, a study performed by the Centers for Disease hear and Prevention estimated that in the United States, 3 out of each 1,000 children between the ages of 6 and 17, have been diagnosed with TS. (Scahill, Bitsko, & Blumberg, 2007). However, other studies performed apply other methods estimated the number of Tourette cases at 6 out of each 1,000. The CDC study too showed that TS was more common in males with a 4:1 male to female ratio. (Scahill, Bitsko, & Blumberg, 2007). It was also pitch to be more predominant in innocence citizens rather than Hispanic or Black. Another association found was that slightly more cases occurred in lower class families whose parents got alone minimal education, such as high school or less. (Scahill, Bitsko, & Blumberg, 2007).
Also, roughly 79% of children diagnosed with TS have also been diagnosed with a co-occurring mental health or neurodevelopmental condition such as ADD/ADHD, Anxiety disorder or Depression, behavioral problems, or learning disabilities such as developmental delays. (Scahill, Bitsko, & Blumberg, 2007).
