When King graduated in 1966 he went to The University of Maine at Oronco. There King majored in English. King worked in the university library part clip to support himself. He published many stories in college literary magazines. He even wrote a weekly opinion editorial in the school paper. One of his teachers encouraged him to become a professional writer.

It is about a socially outcast teenage girl whose emotional insecurities coerce her to take revenge on her classmates who taunt her using telekinetic powers.
