An epic is a long narrative poem and is told as a story. An epic hero is one that has a stopping point and has been embarked upon a long journey. In an epic, the hero is capable of macrocosm a great leader or a enervated one. The Odyssey is an epic about a hero who is on a journey to see his family which he hasnt seen in many years. In The Odyssey, Odysseus was on a long journey, which undefended his true weaknesses as a leader. For example, it points out that Odysseus tells his men to chafe on board, but they do not listen because they atomic number 18 too busy partying (815: 30- 31). This shows that Odysseus wasnt loud and serious exuberant for his men to listen to him. A real leader would soak up the skill to make sure his men listens to his orders. Not only was he self-asserting for yelling at the Cyclops, but he was dumb large to enter the Cyclopss cave even when he knew it could come back anything. Upsetting Poseidon was the worst mistake Odysseus did because Poseidon would bear a grudge on him and remember what he did to his son. These weaknesses abnormal Odysseus journey to home because he couldve went home a vision early if it wasnt for his men or upsetting Poseidon. Although he had some weaknesses, it was his strengths that brought him back home.
